HEC Establishes University of Central Asia in Islamabad
Islamabad, Higher Education Commission is going to establish the University of Central Asia and Pakistan (UCAP) in Islamabad. The university will be established with the funding of Rs.2.84 billion. The institute is being established for the provision of higher level of education to the students hailing from the Central Asian countries.
During the budget 2018-2018, the budget of Rs.600 million has already been allocated for the setting up of the university. There is the additional amount of Rs.500 million will be allocated in the coming fiscal year. The construction of the basic structure of the UCAP is going to set in the new coming days.
Location yet to be decided
The location for the establishment of UCAP will be decided soon and the construction of the university will be started very soon. The classes for UCAP will be started in September 2018 at COMSATS University Islamabad. It is hoped that the allocation of land for the setting up of UCAP will be finalized in August this year.
The government has the aim to promote cultural exchange, economic and social development and the international peace and stability to offer top quality education for the students hailing from South Asian countries and make the hub for provision of education. It will facilitate the increased cooperation between the Central Asian states and Pakistan and it would leave deep impact on the regional understanding.
UCAP will provide higher learning education opportunities to the students and different programs in Schools of Business and Leadership will be offered. The induction of the staff, faculty and head of the departments is started and the finalization of admission and courses will be offered after the recruitment of staff and faculty. The suitable candidates can apply for head of university, for faculty position at UCAP, either he or she belongs to Pakistan or from other countries. He/she will recruit remaining staff according to the selection criteria, which is set by HEC.
The federal government will take care of the provision of land and basic structure for the university and the Central Asian countries can also take part in operational costs of the university by the provision of scholarships and monetary support.
