PMDC Private Medical College Conflicts
Islamabad, Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and the medical colleges located in the private sector are at the conflict with each other on the procedure of the admission in the colleges.
PMDC has already issued the statements and warned the students not to get admission in the medical and dental colleges of private sector as they are disobeying the regulations of the council. Now the medical colleges of private sector utilized the students and their parents to resist against the decision of the council.
PMDC has already issued the instructions and they have made the decision that the government colleges will complete their admission process and after that the private medical colleges will start their admission in the MBBS and BDS class and this statement was issued in October last year. It was also decided that the admissions will be granted in the private medical colleges through centralized induction procedure, which is conducted by the government sector universities. Then private sector medical colleges got stay orders from the courts and they argued that the policy was announced late and the private medical colleges completed their procedures for admissions of the students in the private sector medical colleges. The council announced that the new strategy will be started from 2018 and onwards. Lahore High Court gave the decision that the council has right to bring new strategies for private medical colleges.
PMDC warns the students to bypass the centralized admission system and the parents claimed that disputes put the future of students at risk. PMDC announced this year that the government medical colleges will complete their admission procedure by completing the admission before 30 November 2018 and after that the private sector medical colleges will start their admission process. The private medical colleges violated the centralized induction and they also started admission in their colleges and at the same time, the government medical colleges are still completing their admission procedure.
The council asked the students not to get admission in the private medical colleges by violating the centralized induction system and they advised the candidates to secure their future and not to take admission in private medical colleges before start of their date of admission. Pakistan Association of Private Medical and Dental Institutions criticized the centralized admission system many times and said that it is the main source of corruption and they issued the statement on the basis of the comments taken from the parents and they asked the council not to play with the future of the students.
They opined that the students should have the choice to get admission in the medical college or university, in which they want to get admission and they can get admission and start their education. The conflict between PMDC and private medical colleges put the future of the medical students at risk. The statement also showed that the claims and the counter claims by the PMDC and the private medical colleges confused the students and their parents and they are unable to make the decision where to get admission. If this issue is not resolved on the developing basis then it can destroy the future of the children. The member of the council said that the council has the power to solve the matter to improve the medical education and the courts reserved the decision of the PMDC.
